Figure Skate Rental Pricing

Pricing is simplified - Easy to understand terms.

Please note: Skate rental is normally only available to those able to attend Cambridge Ice Arena (UK). Per the terms of the agreement, TheRink must be the sole maintainer of the equipment, and typically this is possible only if you skate regularly at the arena.

What you’re renting

You are renting ice hockey or skating equipment listed in the full agreement, on a monthly rental basis.

Payments

  • Rental is charged per month
  • The first month is payable before you take the equipment
  • Future payments are due before the next rental month starts
  • The minimum rental period is one month

Damage deposit

  • A refundable damage and excess cleaning deposit is required before equipment is released
  • The deposit is returned when the equipment is returned, minus any deductions if applicable

Normal wear vs damage

Normal wear and tear includes:

  • Light scuffs and marks
  • Routine blade wear from skating
  • General use consistent with proper care

Extra charges may apply for:

  • Rust caused by improper drying or storage
  • Torn fabric, broken straps, clips, or eyelets
  • Missing parts
  • Blade damage beyond normal sharpening
  • Damage caused by misuse or neglect
  • Excessive cleaning requirement

Damage is assessed fairly and reasonably.

Your responsibilities

You agree to:

  • Where skates are rented, you must have guards and a bag. You can use your own, or rent some from TheRink.
  • Only use TheRink for maintenance, such as sharpening - normal maintenance is included in the price!
  • Look after the equipment properly - we can explain how
  • Check it before each use
  • Stop using it if damaged and tell us
  • Clean and return all items at the end of the rental
  • Not permanently alter the equipment

Alterations

  • No permanent alterations are allowed
  • Skate baking, punching, or reshaping is only allowed if carried out by TheRink

Loss or non-return

  • You are responsible for the equipment while it is rented to you
  • If items are not returned, rental charges continue until returned or declared lost
  • Lost or destroyed items may be charged at retail replacement cost
  • The deposit is applied first; any balance must be paid promptly

Safety & liability

  • Ice skating and hockey carry inherent risks
  • Equipment reduces risk but cannot eliminate it
  • You skate at your own risk

Ending the rental

  • You can cancel by giving notice before the next rental month
  • Equipment must be returned on time to stop charges
  • We reserve the right to end the rental if payments are missed
